WAIST LOOM

The waist loom is used by many cultures as the basic tool for the garments they use. It is important to emphasize that the waist loom creates the fabric itself, it is not an embroidery or a detail on the garment, but the fabric was created "from scratch" by weaving threads on the loom.

The waist loom has variants depending on the pieces to be made: ribbons, sashes, backpacks, quechquémitl, blouses, shawls, overcoats etc. By adding threads of different colors more effects are obtained, interlacing and the introduction of threads in the warp and in the weft of the loom give rise to the designs.
